Odisha’s Satyapira Pradhan on Tuesday claimed to have registered his name in Guinness World Records for delivering most number of punches with one hand in one minute. The record was previously held by Pakistan’s Muhammad Rashid, who had displayed his prowess in Karachi on October 22 last year.Confirmation awaitedMr. Satyapira, a physiotherapy student at a city-based medical college, punched 393 times with one hand in a minute surpassing 377 full punches struck by Pakistani martial arts student. The Odisha boy is now waiting for confirmation from Guinness World Records.“I came across this typical record six months ago. Subsequently, I had applied to challenge the record. I got approval from Guinness World Records authorities to make attempts on June 5. After getting approval, I organised the event on Tuesday,” said Satyapira, who hails from Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district. As per the guidelines, two eyewitnesses, two time keepers and one punch pad keeper are required to be present at the event. The one minute video is to be submitted to the Guinness World Records.“A one-minute video was recorded while I kept punching with my right hand. Three separate attempts were made by me. Video of the last attempt was run in slow motion. We counted 398 punches. However, in five punches, we were not sure if I had delivered full-contact punch strikes. So we did not take those five punches into account,” he said.
