IPPO sends additional cops to Alimodian, Bingawan

Six health workers there tested positive for the virus. The ECQ was supposed to end on July 15 but Alonsabe opted to extend it after another 10 persons tested positive for the disease. “We deployed 10 more personnel to Alimodian on July 15 to augment our 38 policemen sent there on June 29. We pulled some of our men from the IPPO headquarters, the Regional Public Safety Battalion and Special Weapons and Tactics,” Lucas said. Lucas said he also deployed 10 cops to the town of Bingawan since it was also placed under ECQ. Twenty-four persons were recently confirmed to have contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) there. Just this June 29, IPPO director Police Colonel Paul Kenneth Lucas deployed 38 police personnel to Alimodian after Mayor Geofree Alonsabe placed his town under an enhanced community quarantine (ECQ). Fourteen rural health workers tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. All the Alimodian COVID-19 patients were being isolated at the town’s quarantine facility.
