first_imgLink Transit announced changes that will begin July 1st for passengers wanting to go to Chelan or Leavenworth. A fare free shuttle will operate Monday through Saturday between Lakeside Park and downtown Chelan. The shuttle will run between 8:40 a.m. to 5:40 p.m. every 30 minutes. In a press release, Link says the goal is to help alleviate parking problems at Lakeside Park and Don Morse Park.In Leavenworth, Link will operate a new fare-free shuttle from the new Wilkommen Park and Ride on the east end of town to Icicle Road. This shuttle will operate year-round from 2:15 – 9:15 PM Monday – Friday and 12:45 – 7:35 PM on Saturday running every 20 minutes. From Link Transit:Beginning Monday, July 1, residents and visitors in Chelan will have a new option when traveling between Lakeside Park and downtown Chelan. With the opening of the new Wilkommen Park and Ride on the east end of town, Link will begin operating a shuttle (Route D) from there to Icicle Road, traveling on SR 2 in both directions, with a short jaunt down Front Street on the way back to the Park and Ride, which is located behind Safeway.This shuttle will operate year-round from 2:15 – 9:15 PM Monday – Friday and 12:45 – 7:35 PM on Saturday, and will be fare-free. Trips will depart the Park and Ride approximately every 20 minutes, however heavy traffic and other events may cause this to be less frequent.Related to the beginning of this shuttle service, service on the Route 22 that runs between Leavenworth and Wenatchee will change slightly as well. Up until 2:00 PM Monday – Friday, the Route 22 will continue to travel through Leavenworth to Icicle Road, as it presently does. After 2:00 PM (12:45 on Saturday), Route 22 will terminate at the Park and Ride. Service to the west end of Leavenworth will be completed on the shuttle. As a result of serving the new park and ride, there will be some minor changes to the Route 22 schedule on either end of Leavenworth. There is also a 9:30 PM trip back from Leavenworth, this trip will end at Olds Station.The Wilkommen Park and Ride, located behind Safeway, is a 90 stall parking facility that has been under construction since spring of 2018. This is equipped with heated sidewalks, lighted waiting areas, passenger shelters and public restrooms, and one electric vehicle charger. This $2.75 million project is a partnership between WSDOT, the City of Leavenworth, and developer Tom Lin. A ribbon cutting for the Park and Ride is scheduled for 11:30 AM on Friday, June 28.
