File PhotoBNP secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has criticised the government for announcing two statements over sighting the moon.”The government announced at around 8pm on Tuesday that Eid would be celebrated on Thursday as the moon was not sighted anywhere in the country on Tuesday,” the BNP leader told journalists, after paying tributes to BNP founder and former president Ziaur Rahman at his graveyard at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Wednesday morning.Mirza Fakhrul alleged that there was no good goverance in the country. As a result, the government revised its decision without thinking about the sufferings of the people.He said this government does things for which people suffer. This happens in the absence of good governance.Millions of people have no joy or festivity as thousands of leaders and activists face charges and cannot stay home, Mirza Fakhrul said.He also said farmers cannot celebrate Eid as they cannot sell their paddy.Mirza Fakhrul alleged that the government is not allowing BNP leaders to meet jailed BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.”We submitted an application to meet her but did not get permission,” Fakhrul said.The government has allowed only seven members of her family to meet her, he added.
