Spotify Is Testing a New Feature That Will Let You Block Music

first_img Spotify is taking personalized playlists to the next level with a new feature: You’ll soon be able to block music artists that you don’t like on the streaming service. This “block button,” which will let you mute artists’ songs on curated playlists, including global charts, Discover Weekly, and Daily Mixes, is reportedly being tested by Spotify, Thurrott reported. Spotify did not announce a release date for the blocking feature yet.Blocking music artists is easy with the new feature: First, go to the Spotify app on your smartphone. Next, find the artist you want to block, go to the “…” menu on their page, and click “Don’t play this artist.” Spotify will then remove them from your personal library and automatically curated playlists. Once you choose to mute an artist, you’ll have to manually turn the blocking feature off to hear their tunes again. Most Spotify users will have to wait for the blocking feature though: Thurrott said the blocking feature is only available for some Spotify account holders that are part of the streaming service’s beta program for iOS. The new feature isn’t available on Spotify’s desktop or web platforms at this time.Visit Spotify’s Help Page for more tips on how to personalize your playlists, track recommendations, and more.More on Geek.com:Queen’s Brian May Pens Musical Tribute to New Horizons Space Probe15 Cool Tech Gifts for Music LoversThis Cool Music Video Was Made With 2,250 Printed Photos Stay on target SteelSeries Arctis 1 Is World’s First USB-C Wireless Gaming HeadsetGeek Pick: Shure MV88+ Is An Excellent, On the Go Microphone Kit last_img
